Alberta Eco Trust Grant- Surface Water Flow Study

MLBMS received a grant from Alberta Ecotrust to study the flow of surface water in the Muriel Lake basin.  The project is underway, Solstice Environmental Management has been contracted to complete the study. So far they have built a digital elevation model using Lidar data, and mapped drainage throughout the basin. One of their outputs is “stream longitudinal profiles” – see the example, where stream elevation appears to rise. Next MLBMS volunteers will examine the identified potential blockages that may be inhibiting surface water flow to the lake. The study will be complete in the new year and we’ll post it on the website. Want to know more, get involved or donate to support the study? Just contact us.
